SENEGAL
Senegal, the land of Teranga (hospitality in Wolof), is quite little known to French travellers, as it is often associated with the only beach offering where 80% of tourism is concentrated on 40 km of coast.
Senegal is a wonderful African destination, offering multiple landscapes from the Mauritanian desert to the tropical forests of the Fouta-Djalon foothills, from Sahelian areas dotted with iconic acacias and baobabs, to the endless wild beaches of the Grande Côte and numerous biosphere reserves including the 3rd largest bird sanctuary in the world.
Several testimonies of the colonial history of Dakar to Saint-Louis, or along the Senegal River, not forgetting the island of Gorée with its tragic past, complete this great tourist diversity.
But the greatest reward of a trip to Senegal lies in meeting and exchanging with its inhabitants, spread across a true ethnic mosaic with strong and diverse cultures.
