We had a fantastic week-long road trip through Senegal, exploring the authentic continent, visiting Dakar and spending a night on the charming island of Gorée. The itinerary was packed and varied, ranging from a barbecue lunch on a secluded beach in the middle of the mangroves to sleeping in a tented camp in the desert, cooking with locals, sailing on traditional boats, dancing to the rhythms of the tam-tam drum, visiting a school, and even learning a few words of Wolof, the local language.
The accommodations were well-suited to the chosen itinerary: basic but equipped with the necessary amenities (always a shower with hot water, European-style toilet, air conditioning, and beds with mosquito nets). Often, there was also a lovely little pool, perfect for relaxing. Fresh and delicious local dishes were always provided.
The real highlight was our guide, Thiendou! He managed our trip perfectly, leaving us with no worries. He was extremely attentive and considerate, and shared various insights fluently in both French and English.
In short, an ideal way to discover the real Senegal!
